🎸 Jared Nels: A Special Thursday Night Show

Trivia is taking the night off. Jared Nels is back on the Waganupa stage.

If you caught him in April, you know why we wanted him back. Jared comes to us from Santa Barbara with a sound that's hard to pin down: bluegrass, blues, country western, outlaw country and rock, all built around powerful vocals and quick, clean guitar. Then there's the yodeling. He's won multiple yodeling contests and has been featured on American Idol, and it's the kind of thing that stops you mid-sip.

His set list ranges from Billy Strings, Doc Watson and Hank Williams to Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and Joe Cocker, plus over two hours of his own original music. You'll hear something you know and something you don't.

🎸 Live Music — David Sheehy
Saturday, August 29 · 6–8 PM · Free to attend

He's been at this for 50 years, and it shows. David Sheehy is an international performing and recording artist visiting the area from Phoenix, Arizona, and he's stopping by Chester for one night of acoustic covers spanning seven decades — 300-plus songs from 125 artists — plus his own original material. If you want an evening where you can name a decade and he's probably got a song for it, this is your night.

Sheehy started playing guitar the week after the Beatles hit the Ed Sullivan Show, and he never really stopped. He toured the Holiday Inn circuit in his twenties, played in the rock band Scattered Blue, and has spent the last three decades as a solo act, releasing several albums along the way — including his 2010 single "Let Go," his first to get global distribution.

Grab a stool by the tanks, order a pint, and settle in for what he calls "the best in acoustic music."

AUGUST 28 — OLIVIA HARMS

She's back — and honestly, we've been counting down.

Olivia Harms brings a Country Western Honky Tonk sound that blends Texas Red Dirt grit, Bakersfield twang, and Nashville polish — packed with fiddle, steel guitar, and the kind of country-western swing that gets you out of your seat. Her singles have climbed the Texas Red Dirt charts, with "Hey There Cowboy" peaking in the Texas Top 10 and "This Ain't My First Rodeo" sitting in the Texas Top 5 for over five weeks. She's been named to COWGIRL Magazine's 30 Under 30 and honored as Singer of the Year at the Women of the West Gala at the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Fort Worth. She was also hand-selected by Taylor Sheridan and Blake Shelton to be part of their CBS series The Road.

Her first show here was one for the books — her return is going to be even better.

AUGUST 14 — DANNY HORTON TRIO

Welcome back one of our favorites — and one of Plumas County's own.

Danny Horton is a singer/songwriter living in the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountains who has been playing professionally since 1995. He toured around the globe, reached number 8 on the European charts while signed to Tiefdruck/Universal, and then came home to Blairsden/Graeagle where he built one of the most respected careers in the Northern California music scene.

His soulful voice has been compared to Chris Stapleton mixed with Johnny Cash — weathered vagabond one moment, smooth crooner the next, and hootin' and hollerin' the next. His sound crosses Classic Country, Folk, and Classic Rock with a punk rock edge that makes him just as comfortable at a honky tonk as a punk show. He plays his Martin guitar while kicking his own bass drum and snare — and with lead guitarist Eric "Rico" Peterson and stand-up bassist Chris Beucherie rounding out the trio, this is a one-of-a-kind live experience with a whole lot of soul.

The Danny Horton Trio has performed at the High Sierra Music Festival, the Lost Sierra Hoe Down, and regularly opens for national acts including Reverend Horton Heat, Bridge City Sinners, and Corb Lund. His album Dear Miss Rose features lead guitarist Johnny "V" Vernazza of Elvin Bishop and is available on all major music platforms.

🎸 Waganupa Presents — An Evening with The Lowdown Drifters

This one is unlike anything we've done before — and we couldn't be more excited to bring it to Lake Almanor.

The Lowdown Drifters are road-tested for nearly a decade, having built their reputation playing one-night stands to their self-proclaimed "tens of fans" across the nation — and those fans keep coming back. Fort Worth, Texas based by way of California, Washington, and Minnesota, the band has created their own brand of "sad bastard songs" that are as likely to invoke dancing as crying, combining heartfelt and heartbreaking lyrics with catchy and upbeat melodies. Led by John Cannon's poetic rasp, the Drifters live show has built a steadfast and dedicated following at venues and festivals including Gruene Hall, Cain's Ballroom, and the Ryman Auditorium.

Their recordings — including the critically acclaimed debut album Last Call for Dreamers — have garnered over 275k monthly listeners and more than 75 million total streams for their hit song "Fire in Her Eyes," with crowd favorites "Alright," "If I Had A Dollar," and "Back to You" accounting for another 25 million streams. The Drifters are rolling into Lake Almanor on their 2026 nationwide tour in support of their new single "Get Up," featuring Wade Forster, Jody Bartula, and famed rodeo announcer Bob Tallman.

Opening the evening is the always wonderful Olivia Vega, taking the stage at 5:30 PM.

Nigel St. Hubbins is a Reno-based musician, Air Force veteran, and the creative force behind Wunderlust — a beloved tribute to rock's greatest one-hit wonders. He's been entertaining audiences across the Reno-Tahoe area for decades, bringing a sound built on deep vocal harmonies, sharp guitar work, and a stage presence that makes every show feel like a party.

Whether he's rocking a full band set or sitting down for an intimate acoustic evening, Nigel has a gift for connecting with a room and making sure nobody goes home without a smile. Expect a night full of classic songs, great energy, and music that takes you right back to where you were the first time you heard it.

Pull up your own chairs, pack a picnic for the family, or grab takeout from Il Lago or Bing's Peninsula on your way in. We'll handle the cold pints. Kids and four-legged friends welcome and encouraged.

Some of the best music you'll ever hear comes from right in your own backyard.

Kelly Konzelman is a local musician who plays electric and acoustic finger-style guitar and brings a setlist straight from the golden era of American music — the Eagles, Bob Dylan, CSNY, James Taylor, and Joni Mitchell. The kind of songs that everybody knows, everybody loves, and everybody sings along to whether they mean to or not.

Pull up your own chairs and pack a picnic, grab a bite from D's Hawt Diggity Dawgs — owned and operated by the Hargrave family — or order takeout from Il Lago or Bing's Peninsula on your way in. Their menus are available inside the taproom. We'll handle the cold pints. Kids and four-legged friends welcome and encouraged.
